Chau Hang was born in 1962 in Guangzhou, China. During his childhood, Chau was inspired and trained by his father, Mr. Zhou Zhi Yi, in Chinese painting. In 1983, he moved to Hong Kong and continued further study under Professor Zhao Shao'ang (Chao Shao An, 1905-1998), who is also his grandfather. He has received numerous awards in professional calligraphy and painting competitions and exhibitions in Hong Kong, and his works were widely collected by private and institutional art connoisseurs. In 2006, Mr. Chau published a bilingual guide to Chinese paintings for beginners, Happy Brush, in co-operation with the University of Indianapolis. In 2018, Mr. Chau was appointed as the Honorary Dean of the School of Lingnan Chinese Traditional Painting College.
